Coquerel's Sifaka is a subspecies of Verreaux's Sifaka, Propithecus verreauxi. Sifakas are a type of lemur, primitive primates found only in Madagascar. These plant eaters are arboreal but do not use their arms to swing from tree to tree like other primates. Instead they leap between trees using their powerful, long back legs. They are called "sifaka" because it's name resembles their alarm cry of shee-fa'-ka.
