Note: Not to be confused with the Brown Kiwi, Apteryx mantelli,
which is currently endangered

Comments This nocturnal bird digs burrows, has nostrils located near the tip
of it's bill and has cat like whiskers. Although it has poor eyesight it's sense of smell, hearing and touch is acute .
